MALAYSIA AIRLINES AND MASKARGO PARTNER MERCY MALAYSIA FOR LAHAD DATU

Malaysia Airlines and its cargo subsidiary MASkargo partnered Mercy Malaysia to support the Government’s on-going ‘Operations Daulat’ to restore normalcy in the east Sabah region around Lahad Datu.
The national carrier and its subsidiary pooled efforts to airlift around 1 tonne of equipment for Mercy Malaysia, required to provide logistical support and enhance the capacity of the local rural health clinic located at Felda Sahabat in Lahad Datu.
In responding to the request by the Sabah State Health Department, Mercy Malaysia will use the equipment to mobilize its Emergency Response Unit in-patient module which can accommodate 50 patients, providing aid to internally displaced people in the area.
Malaysia Airlines’ Director of Operations, Capt Izham Ismail who was on hand in KLIA during the loading of the consignment said, ‘As a Government Linked Company  it is important that we support the efforts of the government to restore the security and safety of our territories as it contributes to minimize disruptions to the daily routines of the Malaysians. We have partnered Mercy Malaysia in this initiative as we already have an ongoing arrangement with the NGO to support such corporate social responsibility engagements for the benefit of our citizens and also affected communities overseas”
“At Malaysia Airlines, we have always played a significant role in such missions.  Previously, we also flew back Malaysian students from Cairo who were stranded in Egypt due to the political turmoil there,” he added.
Apart from airfreight support, Malaysia Airlines also provided return flights for five volunteers of Mercy Malaysia from KLIA to Tawau in conjunction with their assignment in Lahad Datu.
In addition to the above partnership with Mercy Malaysia, the national carrier and its wholly-owned subsidiaries Firefly and MASwings have pledged to donate towards the Tabung Wira Lahad Datu Media Prima established to commemorate the services of security personnel who were injured and perished in the line of duty defending the sovereignty of Malaysia.

Malaysia Airlines Increases Capacity To Its Global Network Regional and domestic operations benefit from new aircraft added to the fleet

Malaysia Airlines is increasing its capacity to many routes on its network through additional flights and bigger capacity aircraft for the Northern Summer operating pattern effective 31 March 2013.

Group CEO, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said, “The capacity increase is made possible as we take delivery of an average one 160-seater 737-800 aircraft per month, two more 494-seater A380 and four 283-seater A330-300 aircraft this year.”

“This is an integral aspect of our Business Plan and our continued commitment to improve air connectivity within Malaysia as well as leverage on the Asia Pacific region where the demand outlook is strong, fuelled by a burgeoning middle class and increased global and intra-regional trade. We are confident that our improving fleet size, with the addition of new aircraft featuring state-of-the-art passenger amenities, will continue to drive revenue and loads, and our return to profitability,” he added.

Apart from the Kuala Lumpur-Paris return route that saw a weekly capacity increase of 1484 seats in each direction with the 494-seater A380 replacing the 282-seater B777-200 from 1 March 2013, the upward capacity changes focus on matching air traffic  volume in the Asia Pacific that is expected to see strong growth in 2013 as cargo recovers.

Regional Network
From 31 March 2013, the Kuala Lumpur-Manila route weekly frequency will be increased from 25 to 28 B737-800 services with the additional flights operating on Monday, Friday and Sunday. With the introduction of the 3 weekly services, this route’s capacity is increased by 12% (480 seats) in each direction.

Effective the same day, the daily Boeing 737-800 return frequencies of the airline’s Kuala Lumpur-Yangon and Kuala Lumpur-Colombo routes will also be increased to ten weekly. The 3 new weekly services for Yangon will be operated on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, while the similar services for Colombo will be operated on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

From 1 April 2013, a new daily B777-200 service will be introduced on the Kuala Lumpur-Dhaka route, making it double daily wide-body operations between Malaysia and Bangladesh, with capacity also increased 100% from that date.

The present daily B777-200 and twice daily B737-800 return flights for Kuala Lumpur-Denpasar (Bali) will also have a daily capacity increase by 20% when one of the daily B737-800 service is replaced by B777-200 service effective 01Apr 2013.

The 5 times weekly A330-300 daily service for Kuala Lumpur-Brisbane route will be increased to daily flights effective 17 June 2013, adding 566 seats in each direction, representing a 40% capacity increase.

Capacity on the Kuala Lumpur-Bandar Seri Begawan will be increased by 11% with the existing 4 weekly B737-400 services replaced by B737-800 flights effective 15 August 2013.

Domestic Network
On the Peninsular Malaysia services, the present 42 B737 weekly Kuala Lumpur-Langkawi services will be increased to 49 effective 15 June 2013. The Kuala Lumpur-Johor Bahru sector, currently served by 27 weekly B737 flights will be increased by a further 5 weekly B737-800 flights effective 15 July 2013.

The Kuala Lumpur-Kuching route will see the current 49 weekly B737 services gradually increase to 77 weekly services by 15 August 2013. This will be through the mounting of 19 weekly services effective 31 March 2013, 8 weekly services from 15 July 2013 and 1 weekly service from 15 August 2013.

Similarly the Kuala Lumpur-Kota Kinabalu route will also be improved from the current 68 weekly B737 services to 82 weekly services by 15 July 2013. The gradual increase will be through 6 additional weekly flights from 31 March 2013, 6 weekly flights from 15 April 2013, 1 weekly flight from 15 June 2013, and another from 15 July 2013.

Due to increased demand on the Kuala Lumpur-Miri route, 11 additional B737 frequencies will be introduced, with a daily service effective 15 April 2013, 3 weekly service effective 15 July 2013 and 1 weekly service effective 15 August 2013.

To cope with similar increased demand, the present 7 weekly B737 services for Kuala Lumpur-Tawau will be increased by another daily service from 15 June 2013. From the same day, the present 14 weekly Kuala Lumpur-Labuan B737 service will be increased by another 6 weekly B737 services to make it 20 weekly flights.

Menangguk Di Air Yang Keruh

     MEDIA RELEASE
     MARCH 4, 2013

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOW PRIORITISE ON GUARANTEEING OUR
     TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY AND SECURITY

Any leader of any country must defend his nation’s sovereignty and
     the security of his people.

Failing to do so is a grave betrayal of the people’s trust in its
government. Therefore, Pakatan Rakyat urges the present national
leadership to do that which is required of them, to defend our land
and never to compromise the safety of each and every Malaysian, and
the test of those principles is ongoing in and around Sabah’s Lahad
Datu and Semporna with the escalating violence brought by armed
     foreigners.

In Lahad Datu two of members of our security forces have lost their
lives, while the latest acts in Semporna have claimed six of our
men in uniform. We express our sincere condolences to these men’s
families and may God bless them for they have given the highest
     sacrifice for a grateful nation.

Pakatan Rakyat calls on all Malaysians to show unreserved support
to our security forces, both the police and military. And pray that
they remain safe while defending our nation and its people from
     harm.

Pakatan realises the recent incidents in Sabah raise concern and
fear, but we urge the public to remain calm and not to act rashly
     and hurt their fellow countrymen.

The coalition takes this opportunity to restate its confidence in
the capacity and capability of our security forces to protect our
     country’s sovereignty.

We are disappointed with the weak leadership show by the federal
government whose responsibility is to keep Malaysia’s security
     intact.

While we are convinced that national security transcends political
divides and all citizens must support the security forces’ efforts,
it does not abrogate the federal leadership for its lax treatment
     of the whole affair.

This leadership has failed to pass accurate information quickly so
that the public is aware of what is happening, an error which has
     caused rumour-mongering to be rife.

We understand that the government is investigating the leader of
opposition to over the armed intrusions in Sabah. We would like to
state categorically that Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim is in no way
involved with the escalation of violence in Sabah nor the cause of
     it.

The Sabah intrusion is now into its fourth week (Day 23) — fourth
day of hostilities — and the federal leadership appears not to have
a clear plan to overcome the violation of our sovereign territory,
or to stop any further intrusions. Instead Putrajaya is
irresponsibly trying to avert the eyes of the people from its own
     role.

It is time the federal government realises its jobs is to defend
and protect Malaysia, its people and the warriors on the frontline.

Pakatan urges for an immediate meeting between the leadership of
our coalition and the prime minister, home minister and defence
minister, followed by a special sitting of Parliament to discuss
     the intrusion.

We strongly demand Putrajaya stops finger-pointing at others
especially Pakatan Rakyat and never to betray the trust of the
     Malaysian people.

     KENYATAAN MEDIA

     PIMPINAN PAKATAN RAKYAT

     4 MAC 2013

DATO’ SERI NAJIB RAZAK SEWAJARNYA MENUMPUKAN USAHA MEMASTIKAN
KEDAULATAN WILAYAH NEGARA, KESELAMATAN RAKYAT SABAH DAN ANGGOTA
     PASUKAN KESELAMATAN

Setiap pimpinan mana-mana negara sekalipun bertanggungjawab
mempertahan kedaulatan wilayah negara, keselamatan rakyat dan
     anggota pasukan keselamatan.

Kegagalan mempertahankan kedaulatan negara dan keselamatan rakyat
merupakan satu pengkhianatan serta menodai amanah rakyat. Justeru
Pakatan Rakyat berhasrat mengingatkan pimpinan negara agar tegas
     keselamatan rakyatnya wajib dipertahankan.

sekiranya diberi kebebasan bertindak tanpa sebarang campurtangan
     politik.

Pakatan Rakyat menuntut agar segera diadakan satu sidang khas
