Papaya Leaf

I would like to share this interesting discovery from a friend's classmate's son who has just recovered from dengue fever. Apparently, his son was in the critical stage at the ICU when his blood platelet count dropped badly after 15 liters of blood transfusion. His father was so worried that he sought another friend's recommendation whose son was saved. He confessed that he gave his son raw juice of the papaya leaves. After drinking the raw papaya leaf juice, his platelet count rose up instantly to a good level.

Even the doctors and nurses were surprised. After the second day he was discharged. So he asked me to pass this good news around. Accordingly it is raw papaya leaves, 2pcs just cleaned and pound and squeeze with filter cloth. You will only get one tablespoon per leaf.. So two tablespoon per serving once a day. Do not boil or cook or rinse with hot water, it will loose its strength. Only the leafy part and no stem or sap. It is very bitter and you have to swallow it like "Won Low Kat". But it works.

That papaya juice is a natural cure for dengue fever. As dengue fever is rampant now, I think it's good to share this with all. Please spread the news about this as lately there are many dengue cases. It's great if such natural cure could help to ease the sufferings of dengue .
Furthermore it's so easily available.
Blend them and squeeze the juice! It's simple and miraculously effective!!

Spread The Word Not The Flu

 Influenza Vaccination

Its time to separate myths from facts!
Every wear, manay people decide to not get an influenza vaccination and many of their reasons are based on myths.Take a moment to read the following information to learn the facts. Then ask yourself,if the influenza vaccine is meant to help me,why wouldnt i get it?

1 : "The flu is not that serious"

Fact : Influenza can have serious results

Influenza is a contagious infection of the respiratory tract (nose, throat and lungs). Its symptoms, including fever, headache, extreme tiredness, cough, sore throat, nasal congestion, and body aches, can disrupt your work and social plans for up to 2 weeks.

Although many people can recover without any medical treatment, influenza can lead to more serious respiratory conditions, such as bronchitis and pneumonia.

2 : "Why do i need an annual flu vaccination"

ATTENTION PET LOVERS

NATURA PET Products is recalling its dry foods for dogs and cats because they may be contaminated with salmonella bacteria.
Natura Pet's voluntary recall, announced April 19, includes all dry pet food products with expiration dates prior to and including March 24, 2013.
The brands include:
  • California Natural
  • EVO
  • Healthwise
  • Innova
  • Karma
Natura Pet, based in Fremont, Neb., is a maker of "natural" and "holistic" pet foods, according to a company statement on the Food and Drug Administration's website.
All UPC codes and lot codes for dry food products with expiration dates before and including March 24, 2014 are included in the recall. Images of several of the products in question can be found on the FDA's website. The recall is an expansion of one that had been announced by the company last month.

The affected products were sold through veterinary clinics and select pet specialty retailers throughout the United States and in Canada, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and Costa Rica. The products were also sold online.
No canned wet foods or biscuits, however, are affected by the announcement.
Pets infected with salmonella can appear tired, or have diarrhea (sometimes bloody), fever and vomiting. Some pets may not show these obvious symptoms, and may experience decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Other pets may be healthy but could still spread the bacteria to other animals -- or their human owners.
"If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian," Natura Pet urged consumers.
Humans may also be at risk from handling the pet food directly.
People infected with salmonella may develop symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Symptoms often last about four to seven days, and most people will recover without treatment. Some individuals, including children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems may be at risk for more serious complications that require hospitalization.

What is Legionella?

Background

Legionella is the bacterium that causes Legionnaires disease. Of this bacterium, Legionella pneumophila is the species most commonly associated with disease outbreaks. Legionnaires disease is identified as a pneumonia type of infection of the lower respiratory tract.
The infection is most commonly acquired by the inhalation of airborne droplets or particles containing viable Legionella. Exposure to Legionella can also cause a short feverish illness without pneumonia known as Pontiac Fever.
Research and investigations indicate that the occurrence of Legionella contamination is greatest in water cooling towers, evaporative condensers, hot and cold water services, water spray humidifiers, air washers, spa baths and pools where water is agitated and recirculated. The contamination from a cooling water tower will cover a far larger area than any other likely source.
Sediment, scale and organic materials present in water systems, can provide nutrients and give protection for Legionella. Legionella has been shown to colonise certain types of water fittings, pipework and materials used in the construction of water systems. The presence of these materials may provide nutrients for Legionella and make eradication difficult. Other organisms in water systems such as bacteria, amoeba and algae can provide a suitable habitat and nutrients in which Legionella can survive and multiply.
The formation of biofilms within water systems is undesirable and may also provide harbourage and favourable conditions for Legionella growth. The presence of Legionella in biofilms and in enclosures within protozoa may protect the organisms from any remedial measure employed to eradicate the bacterium.
Legionella is most likely to proliferate in water systems that have a temperature between 20C and 50C. Human blood temperature of approximately 37C is the most ideal temperature for proliferation. Stagnant water within the above temperature range appears to provide the ideal conditions for proliferation of Legionella.
Legionella will survive at temperatures below 20C but is considered to be in a dormant state with no growth activity. The bacterium does not survive temperatures maintained consistently at 60C or above.
For water samples collected and returned to the laboratory, Legionella pneumophila is recovered by propagation of the organism on a specially supplemented nutrient growth medium. Such samples are normally then incubated at around 37C. It may take up to 7 days for colonies of Legionella to appear. Legionella can be recognised by visual examination of the colonies followed by a number of laboratory techniques to identify species and serogroups.

Where did it begin?

Legionella pneumophila came into the public eye in 1976 when an outbreak hit an American Legion convention in Philadelphia./p>
Out of 4,000 convention attendees, a total of 221 cases (5.5%) were infected. By the time the outbreak ended, of the original 221 'pneumonia' cases, 34 deaths (15%) occurred as a result of exposure to this previously unidentified bacteria. The causative agent would later come to be known as Legionella p. pneumophila and was isolated with its own given genus.
This was not the first outbreak. Retrospective studies have shown a number of pneumonia outbreaks, which we now know were caused by Legionella p. The earliest documented outbreak of Legionnaires' disease occurred in 1957 in Austin, Minnesota of the United States of America. 78 people, including 46 employees working at a local meat packing plant, were hospitalized with acute respiratory disease of an unknown cause. Two of the patients died from this outbreak. In July and August of 1964, at least 81 patients at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Washington, D.C. of the United States of America, developed pneumonia after being exposed to Legionella p. bacteria. 17 of the patients died as a result of this outbreak. Evidence suggests that the bacteria may have originated from extensive soil excavations that were being carried out on the campus of the hospital during the summer months.
Outbreaks of Legionnaires' disease receive significant media attention. However, this disease usually occurs as a single, isolated case not associated with any recognized outbreak. When outbreaks do occur, they are usually recognized in the summer and early fall, but cases may occur year-round.
The CDC (Center for Disease Control) has estimated that the disease infects 10,000 - 15,000 persons annually in the US. OSHA estimates that over 25,000 cases of the illness occur each year, causing more than 4,000 deaths. Still, others estimate as many as 100,000 annual cases.

Key Facts

Infection by Legionnaires' disease occurs when inhaling water mists (aerosols) containing Legionella bacteria. However, to drink such water is not dangerous. These 'water mists' can occur anywhere if water is taken from pipes.
Showers and taps

Showers are considered to be the most common way of spreading the disease. Aerators on water taps also spread water aerosols.
Cooling towers

Many cases of Legionnaires' disease have been attributed to cooling towers inter alia for air-conditioning.
Spas

Spas can spread Legionella bacteria. The water temperature is ideal for the growth of bacteria and the air bubbles give rise to water aerosols.
Other sources

Other sources are humidifiers, ornamental fountains, high pressure washes and vegetable dampers in shop counters. You cannot catch Legionnaires'disease by drinking water.

20 Pain Killers in your Kitchen

A GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO TAKING MEDICATION!!!!
20 Painkillers in Your Kitchen

Make muscle pain a memory with ginger

When Danish researchers asked achy people to jazz up their diets with ginger, it eased muscle and joint pain, swelling and stiffness for up to 63 percent of them within two months. Experts credit ginger’s potent compounds called gingerols, which prevent the production of pain-triggering hormones. The study-recommended dose: Add at least 1 teaspoon of dried ginger or 2 teaspoons of chopped ginger to meals daily.

Cure a toothache with cloves

Got a toothache and can’t get to the dentist? Gently chewing on a clove can ease tooth pain and gum inflammation for two hours straight, say UCLA researchers. Experts point to a natural compound in cloves called eugenol, a powerful, natural anesthetic. Bonus: Sprinkling a ¼ teaspoon of ground cloves on meals daily may also protect your ticker. Scientists say this simple action helps stabilize blood sugar, plus dampen production of artery-clogging cholesterol in as little as three weeks.

Heal heartburn with cider vinegar

Sip 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar mixed with 8 ounces of water before every meal, and experts say you could shut down painful bouts of heartburn in as little as 24 hours. “Cider vinegar is rich in malic and tartaric acids, powerful digestive aids that speed the breakdown of fats and proteins so your stomach can empty quickly, before food washes up into the esophagus, triggering heartburn pain,” explains Joseph Brasco, M.D., a gastroenterologist at the Center for Colon and Digestive Diseases in Huntsville, AL.

Erase earaches with garlic

Painful ear infections drive millions of Americans to doctors’ offices every year. To cure one fast, just place two drops of warm garlic oil into your aching ear twice daily for five days. This simple treatment can clear up ear infections faster than prescription meds, say experts at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Scientists say garlic’s active ingredients (germanium, selenium, and sulfur compounds) are naturally toxic to dozens of different pain-causing bacteria. To whip up your own garlic oil gently simmer three cloves of crushed garlic in a half a cup of extra virgin olive oil for two minutes, strain, then refrigerate for up to two weeks, suggests Teresa Graedon, Ph.D., co-author of the book, Best Choices From The People’s Pharmacy. For an optimal experience, warm this mix slightly before using so the liquid will feel soothing in your ear canal.

Chase away joint and headache pain with cherries

Latest studies show that at least one in four women is struggling with arthritis, gout or chronic headaches. If you’re one of them, a daily bowl of cherries could ease your ache, without the stomach upset so often triggered by today’s painkillers, say researchers at East Lansing ’s Michigan State University . Their research reveals that anthocyanins, the compounds that give cherries their brilliant red color, are anti-inflammatories 10 times stronger than ibuprofen and aspirin. “Anthocyanins help shut down the powerful enzymes that kick-start tissue inflammation, so they can prevent, as well as treat, many different kinds of pain,” explains Muraleedharan Nair, Ph.D., professor of food science at Michigan State University . His advice: Enjoy 20 cherries (fresh, frozen or dried) daily, then continue until your pain disappears.

Fight tummy troubles with fish
Indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel diseases...if your belly always seems to be in an uproar, try munching 18 ounces of fish weekly to ease your misery. Repeated studies show that the fatty acids in fish, called EPA and DHA, can significantly reduce intestinal inflammation, cramping and belly pain and, in some cases, provide as much relief as corticosteroids and other prescription meds. “EPA and DHA are powerful, natural, side effect-free anti-inflammatories, that can dramatically improve the function of the entire gastrointestinal tract,” explains biological chemist Barry Sears, Ph.D., president of the Inflammation Research Foundation in Marblehead , MA . For best results, look for oily fish like salmon, sardines, tuna, mackerel, trout and herring.

Prevent PMS with yogurt
Up to 80 percent of women will struggle with premenstrual syndrome and its uncomfortable symptoms, report Yale researchers. The reason: Their nervous systems are sensitive to the ups and downs in estrogen and progesterone that occur naturally every month. But snacking on 2 cups of yogurt a day can slash these symptoms by 48 percent, say researchers at New York ’s Columbia University . “Yogurt is rich in calcium, a mineral that naturally calms the nervous system, preventing painful symptoms even when hormones are in flux,” explains Mary Jane Minkin, M.D., a professor of gynecology at Yale University .

Tame chronic pain with turmeric

Studies show turmeric, a popular East Indian spice, is actually three times more effective at easing pain than aspirin, ibuprofen or naproxen, plus it can help relieve chronic pain for 50 percent of people struggling with arthritis and even fibromyalgia, according to Cornell researchers. That’s because turmeric’s active ingredient, curcumin, naturally shuts down cyclooxygenase 2, an enzyme that churns out a stream of pain-producing hormones, explains nutrition researcher Julian Whitaker, M.D. and author of the book, Reversing Diabetes. The study-recommended dose: Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon of this spice daily onto any rice, poultry, meat or vegetable dish.

End endometrial pain with oats

The ticket to soothing endometriosis pain could be a daily bowl of oatmeal. Endometriosis occurs when little bits of the uterine lining detach and grow outside of the uterus. Experts say these migrating cells can turn menstruation into a misery, causing so much inflammation that they trigger severe cramping during your period, plus a heavy ache that drags on all month long. Fortunately, scientists say opting for a diet rich in oats can help reduce endometrial pain for up to 60 percent of women within six months. That’s because oats don’t contain gluten, a trouble-making protein that triggers inflammation in many women, making endometriosis difficult to bear, explains Peter Green, M.D., professor of medicine at Colombia University .

Soothe foot pain with salt

Experts say at least six million Americans develop painful ingrown toenails each year. But regularly soaking ingrown nails in warm salt water baths can cure these painful infections within four days, say scientists at California ’s Stanford University . The salt in the mix naturally nixes inflammation, plus it’s anti-bacterial, so it quickly destroys the germs that cause swelling and pain. Just mix 1 teaspoon of salt into each cup of water, heat to the warmest temperature that you can comfortably stand, and then soak the affected foot area for 20 minutes twice daily, until your infection subsides.

Prevent digestive upsets with pineapple

Got gas? One cup of fresh pineapple daily can cut painful bloating within 72 hours, say researchers at California ’s Stanford University . That's because pineapple is natually packed with proteolytic enzymes, digestive aids that help speed the breakdown of pain-causing proteins in the stomach and small intestine, say USDA researchers.

Relax painful muscles with peppermint

Suffering from tight, sore muscles? Stubborn knots can hang around for months if they aren’t properly treated, says naturopath Mark Stengler, N.D., author of the book, The Natural Physician’s Healing Therapies. His advice: Three times each week, soak in a warm tub scented with 10 drops of peppermint oil. The warm water will relax your muscles, while the peppermint oil will naturally soothe your nerves -- a combo that can ease muscle cramping 25 percent more effectively than over-the-counter painkillers, and cut the frequency of future flare-ups in half, says Stengler.

Give your back some TLC with grapes

Got an achy back? Grapes could be the ticket to a speedy recovery. Recent studies at Ohio State University suggest eating a heaping cup of grapes daily can relax tight blood vessels, significantly improving blood flow to damaged back tissues (and often within three hours of enjoying the first bowl). That’s great news because your back’s vertebrae and shock-absorbing discs are completely dependent on nearby blood vessels to bring them healing nutrients and oxygen, so improving blood flow is essential for healing damaged back tissue, says Stengler.

Wash away pain injuries with water

Whether it’s your feet, your knees or your shoulders that are throbbing, experts at New York ’s Manhattan College , say you could kick-start your recovery in one week just by drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily. Why? Experts say water dilutes, and then helps flush out, histamine, a pain-triggering compound produced by injured tissues. “Plus water is a key building block of the cartilage that cushions the ends of your bones, your joints’ lubricating fluid, and the soft discs in your spine,” adds Susan M. Kleiner, Ph.D., author of the book, The Good Mood Diet. “And when these tissues are well-hydrated, they can move and glide over each other without causing pain.” One caveat: Be sure to measure your drinking glasses to find out how large they really are before you start sipping, she says. Today’s juice glasses often hold more than 12 ounces, which means five servings could be enough to meet your daily goal.

Heal sinus problems with horseradish

Latest studies show sinusitis is the nation’s number one chronic health problem. And this condition doesn’t just spur congestion and facial pain, it also makes sufferers six times more likely to feel achy all-over. Horseradish to the rescue! According to German researchers, this eye-watering condiment naturally revs up blood flow to the sinus cavities, helping to open and drain clogged sinuses and heal sinus infections more quickly than decongestant sprays do. The study-recommended dose: One teaspoon twice daily (either on its own, or used as a sandwich or meat topping) until symptoms clear.

Beat bladder infections with blueberries

Eating 1 cup of blueberries daily, whether you opt for them fresh, frozen or in juice form, can cut your risk of a urinary tract infection (UTIs) by 60 percent, according to researchers at New Jersey’s Rutgers University. That's because blueberries are loaded with tannins, plant compounds that wrap around problem-causing bacteria in the bladder, so they can’t get a toehold and create an infection, explains Amy Howell, Ph.D. a scientist at Rutgers University .

Heal mouth sores with honey

Dab painful canker and cold sores with unpasteurized honey four times daily until these skin woes disappear, and they’ll heal 43 percent faster than if you use a prescription cream, say researchers at the Dubai Specialized Medical Center in the United Arab Emirates . Raw honey’s natural enzymes zap inflammation, destroy invading viruses and speed the healing of damaged tissues, say the study authors.

Fight breast pain with flax

In one recent study, adding 3 tablespoons of ground flax to their daily diet eased breast soreness for one in three women within 12 weeks. Scientists credit flax’s phytoestrogens, natural plant compounds that prevent the estrogen spikes that can trigger breast pain. Cure migraines with coffee

Prone to migraines? Try muscling-up your painkiller with a coffee chaser. Whatever over-the-counter pain med you prefer, researchers at the National Headache Foundation say washing it down with a strong 12- ounce cup of coffee will boost the effectiveness of your medication by 40 percent or more. Experts say caffeine stimulates the stomach lining to absorb painkillers more quickly and more effectively.

Tame leg cramps with tomato juice

At least one in five people regularly struggle with leg cramps. The culprit? Potassium deficiencies, which occur when this mineral is flushed out by diuretics, caffeinated beverages or heavy perspiration during exercise. But sip 10 ounces of potassium-rich tomato juice daily and you'll not only speed your recovery, you'll reduce your risk of painful cramp flare-ups in as little as 10 days, say UCLA researchers.

SITA'S CREWTABLET DEBUTS ON MALAYSIA AIRLINES' A380s

Malaysia Airlines cabin crew today began using iPads* to enhance inflight services to customers travelling on the airline’s A380 flights. The iPads are part of SITA's innovative digital cabin crew solution, CrewTablet, which will enable crew members to quickly and easily access passenger and operational data.

Malaysia Airlines’ crew members will trial the new solution - which the airline has branded MHcrew - for six months. MHCrew is much more efficient than traditional paper-based processes, enabling accurate, timely and superior service delivery to passengers.

Group Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, said: "Passengers spend more time with our cabin crew than other employees. As key front-liners, we rely on our cabin crew to provide an outstanding guest experience to passengers. The MHCrew solution will help our crew by providing lots of information at their fingertips so they can be more responsive to our guests.”

Francesco Violante, CEO, SITA said: "Use of tablets is exploding worldwide and at SITA, we recognize that these new mobile devices offer airlines and airports a new way of working. But introducing this new technology in a secure way and integrating it into existing processes demands time, resources and specific skills that many IT departments cannot allocate. So, SITA, working with customers, developed a fully-managed system that includes device supply and management, global wireless connectivity and mobile applications tailored for our industry. The result is the single solution - CrewTablet - which allows airlines to harness the power of tablets quickly and securely."

Malaysia Airlines’ inflight supervisors will use CrewTablet on iPads that are fully integrated with the airline’s operational systems and other business applications. The crew will be able to access a host of information, including weather reports, seat layouts, frequent flyer programmes, flight connection information and safety manuals, with the touch or swipe of a screen.

Cabin crew processes are normally paper-based. With CrewTablet, a larger reserve of up-to-date information is available to the crew to deliver outstanding customer care, helping better manage issues and improve service.

Cabin crew can be trained and up and running in less than one hour, so they can immediately work with more flexibility and efficiency.

CrewTablet will also enable Malaysia Airlines to conduct passenger surveys using iPads, rather than on paper. Survey results and feedback can be derived daily instead of monthly, hence providing the opportunity to quickly enhance or change service delivery accordingly.

With the use of digital forms and reports, CrewTablet reduces operational costs and improves inflight preparations and onboard operations. SITA notes that the service creates fuel savings by reducing the weight of traditional paper reports and manuals carried onboard. Crews can also use aircraft downtime to access digital training and certification courses.

CrewTablet can be integrated with any airline reservation or departure control system. It is part of SITA’s intelligent airline vision which incorporates integrated technology from passenger operations to aircraft operations and next generation communications and infrastructure to drive better performance and accelerate business growth.

Malaysia Airlines will use CrewTablet for its A380 services between Kuala Lumpur and the cities of London, Paris and Hong Kong.

A380/RMAF Fighter Jets Flypast Honours Malaysia's Aerospace Visionaries

Malaysia Airlines and the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) today partnered to showcase a spectacular prelude to the mid-day air show at the Langkawi International Maritime & Air Show (LIMA 2013) in Malaysia.

Attendees of the event, comprising the Rt Hon Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak, former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed, senior government officials, LIMA 2013 participants, industry partners and the public were treated to an all-time air display ‘first’ when 4 SU30MKM Sukhoi fighter jets of the RMAF escorted a Malaysian Airlines A380 aircraft on a fly-past as a prelude to the air show.

The fly-past was staged following the official opening of LIMA which celebrates more than 20 years as part of the international air show calendar this year.

The one-off ‘special honorary fly-past’ event was jointly organised by Malaysia Airlines and RMAF to honour the Show’s senior hosts, current PM, Dato Seri Najib and former PM, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, for their vision, leadership and commitment for the success of Malaysia’s defence and commercial aerospace development strategy since LIMA first started in 1991.

Both leaders have been staunch supporters of Malaysia’s flagship airline and have overseen the development of the fleet and its network over the past 30 years. Today Malaysia Airlines is recognised globally as an international benchmark air carrier and leading award-winning airline on the World-stage.

In addition, their commitment towards promoting international industrial partnerships between Malaysian and global companies like Irkut Corp of Russia has helped drive the Malaysian national defence and aerospace industrial capabilities to an all-time high today.

Tun Dr Mahathir was PM and Dato Seri’ Najib Defense Minister when in August 2003, Malaysia signed a US$900 million contract with Irkut Corp. for 18 SU-30MKMs.

Group Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said, “We are indeed pleased to showcase the A380 in Langkawi whose rapid progress was driven during the premiership of Tun Dr Mahathir. It is also gratifying to know that even after retirement the former premier showed keen interest in the A380’s progress, visiting it at KLIA during the prototype’s worldwide tour in 2007 and even joining us during the joyride in June last year.”

“Likewise, our present Prime Minister has always been supportive of the national carrier, including timely and valuable counsel on our A380 product. Both these dignitaries have also been our pillars of support for the national carrier’s continued existence as the anchor tenant of the Malaysian aerospace industry complex in Subang. The showcase today is indeed a fitting tribute to these two visionaries who have steered the country to greater heights in the civil and military aerospace industry. We also thank our national oil company, Petronas, for fueling our A380 to participate in this rare event,” he added.
