Given the good traction in demand after just 2 months of introduction, Malaysia Airlines is now increasing its service frequency between Kuala Lumpur and Kathmandu from three to five flights weekly.
Effective 16 November 2012, Malaysia Airlines operates flights to Kathmandu on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
According to Director of Commercial, Dr Hugh Dunleavy, “Our new Kathmandu route has received good traction from the market. Apart from the labour market, Kathmandu is fast becoming a ‘must visit’ destination.”
Likened to heaven on earth, Kathmandu is growing as hub for independent travelers of all budgets. Kathmandu’s mountains and quaint towns offer a unique scenic holiday.
Malaysia Airlines flies the Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 144 economy class seats and 16 business class seats on the Kuala Lumpur-Kathmandu return service.
Flight MH170 departs Kuala Lumpur at 8.55 am to arrive at Kathmandu at 11.30 am. The return flight MH171 departs Kathmandu at 12.20pm to arrive at Kuala Lumpur at 7.15pm.
“With our departure and arrival timings, this flight is an excellent connecting flight between Malaysia and various main cities in the world. In total, Malaysia Airlines will be offering a capacity of 1,600 seats in both directions each week,” added Dr Hugh Dunleavy.
The introduction of the new link with Kathmandu on 1 September 2012 is part of Malaysia Airlines’ Business Plan to strengthen its market presence in the regional markets. .
All-in return economy class fares start from only RM1,658 for travel from Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru to Kathmandu. Economy class travel from Kota Kinabalu and Kuching starts from only RM2,115. Meanwhile, all-in return fares on business class start from only RM3275 for travel from Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru.
